Australian Catholic Youth Ministry Convention
Empowering youth ministers across Australia
Melbourne will host the first Australian Catholic Youth Ministry Convention (ACYMC) from 1-3 October. The ACYMC is an opportunity for those ministering with young people from across Australia to come together to share ideas and be formed and inspired for their ministry. This event will draw together those engaged in youth ministry from across the Catholic Church in Australia including parishes, dioceses, schools, movements, communities and religious orders. The Convention seeks to provide:
• high quality formation and training for those engaged in youth ministry across Australia;
• an opportunity for youth ministers to network within and beyond their immediate fields of ministry;
• a space for youth ministers to seek spiritual reflection and nourishment.
The convention will be held at Australian Catholic University in East Melbourne.

Called and Gifted... with Clara Geoghegan and team
Have you ever asked yourself… what is it that I am supposed to do with my life? What will make me happy? How can I find something that I will truly be passionate about?
These are questions that all young people (and many old people!) ask themselves – and this workshop helped aid young people in discerning these truly important questions. We are all called and gifted by God to fulfil a unique vocation. Through Baptism and Confirmation, every Christian receives special gifts from the Holy Spirit called ‘charisms’. Knowing your charisms can help you make better decisions, simplify your life, excel at work, free yourself from envy and better appreciate your family members’ gifts.
The Called and Gifted program is run by the Siena Institute and offered in Melbourne through the Archbishop's Office for Evangelisation. It is run by Clara Geoghegan, a member of the Archbishop's Office for Evangelisation. For information on future sessions, visit www.evangelisation.org.
Why Youth Ministry? ...with Fr Chris Ryan MGL
Our first workshop was held on 27 March with special guest speaker Fr Chris Ryan MGL, who was the coordinator for the Journey of the World Youth Day Cross and Icon and has many years of working with young people in both school and parish environments. Fr Chris spoke to youth leaders about their vocation to youth ministry.
